Bank of Queensland argued with the financial ombudsman to try to limit the compensation paid to a customer who was overcharged for a loan provided by a branch manager who was subsequently sacked for fraud.

The banking royal commission forced the head of performance and governance at Bank of Queensland, Douglas Snell, to admit to a litany of failures in the treatment of Suzanne Riches, a primary school teacher who bought two Wendys franchises in suburban Adelaide with her husband in 2012.
