The qualifications of Australia's top chief executives remain heavily skewed to accounting and finance backgrounds, despite a marked shift in the similar markets like Britain to employ tech-experienced CEOs, raising concerns our boards are yet to fully embrace innovative leaders and combat disruption in their leadership teams.
The CEO research by recruiting firm Robert Half shows that only 6 per cent of top ASX200 CEOs have a background in technology, compared to 50 per cent with a finance background, while about 11 per cent of top British CEOs have a technology background.
