FWO encourages businesses in FRAC sector to stay on top of their responsibilities
The Fair Work Commission has written to small business operators to advise them of its work focused on improving compliance in the fast food, restaurant and café sector.
The Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO) has issued a letter to small businesses in the food, restaurant and café (FRAC) sector, advising them to ensure they are complying with their responsibilities.
“We recognise that this is a very competitive industry and that small business operators often need additional support to ensure they are compliant with workplace laws,” the FWO said.
As part of its FRAC strategy, the FWO is promoting its free tools, templates, calculators and other resources to educate small business operators on their obligations.
It is advising small businesses to check the pay rates for all their staff using its interactive tools under the Fast Food Award and Restaurant Industry Award, and to make sure they understand conditions including leave, hours of work and allowances.
Moreover, the FWO has asked businesses to make sure they keep the right records using its free templates, to meet their employment record-keeping obligations.
To stay up to date, the commission is encouraging businesses to subscribe to MyAccount to get personalised information, ask questions and be notified when changes affect their industry.
