The government has floated a number of imminent changes to eligibility for downsizer contribution rules, including clarifying who can contribute the proceeds of pre-CGT properties and how contributions from jointly owned properties are split between spouses.
The proposed changes, contained in the Treasury Laws Amendment (Measures for a Later Sitting) Bill 2019, aim to clarify a number of technical issues relating to the way the CGT rules interact with the downsizer provisions.
