The IPA said Gary Pflugrath will be appointed to the role of executive general manager of IPA program and qualifications.

He will be leading the IPA program as well as overseeing the learning and development framework of the IPA and provide further insight into its research agenda.

Mr Pflugrath was previously senior director of public policy and governance with the International Federation of Accountants.

Other past experience includes senior roles within the Reserve Bank of Australia and the University of New South Wales.

IPA chief executive Andrew Conway said the appointment of Mr Pflugrath was a significant move to continue to lift the bar on education within the profession.

“When we enhanced our professional program last year to become a fully-fledged MBA with Deakin University, it was in recognition of the need to raise the bar and ensure that members had the competitive edge in a fast-changing, professional environment,” Mr Conway said.

“Our ongoing relationship with Deakin University has also been enhanced with Gary’s appointment as Professor of Professional Practice.

“I am looking forward to working with Gary to provide the best qualification and education outcomes for our members, along with welcoming his influence in our research.”
