
'Modest' tax cuts on the table
Scott Morrison is examining “modest’’ tax cuts in the May budget with a focus on lifting the second-highest tax bracket above $80,000, as the government seeks to offset the effects of “bracket creep” on average wage and salary earners.
The Australian understands the government expects to include an integrated tax paper in the May 10 budget which will focus on limiting work disincentives to wage and salary earners posed by inflation pushing workers into higher tax brackets.
