Leading financial adviser Rice Warner has launched a salvo in the superannuation wars, savaging the Productivity Commission’s call for a list of the 10 best funds in a private memo to thousands clients this morning, suggesting the report was “aggressive … with many unsubstantiated assertions”.
In a document that also slammed use of the Future Fund as “detrimental for all”, the independent actuarial firm defended the $2.8 trillion super sector against charges it was broken, citing global analysis that ranked Australia’s retirement system as among the world’s best, but reserved its harshest criticism for the proposal for experts to pick the 10 best funds.
