Small businesses still need greater access to legal assistance to fight disputes with the banks and introducing a levy on financial institutions to provide assistance is a good idea, a senate committee has found.
The legal and constitutional affairs committee released its report on dispute resolution on Monday, arguing that in the months after the royal commission into financial services, smaller operators and consumers still faced barriers to resolving concerns with banking institutions and legal aid commissions tend not to focus on business clients.
