The Morrison government has reappointed Dr Julianne Jaques as a part-time member of the Board of Taxation, following her initial appointment in 2017.

The board is a non-statutory advisory body charged with improving the design of taxation laws and their operation by bringing together business and broader community perspectives.

In announcing her appointment, Assistant Treasurer Michael Sukkar praised Dr Jaques, a commercial barrister and chartered accountant, for her strong leadership, after she acted as the chair of the board following the sudden passing of Michael Andrew AO.

Dr Jaques holds bachelor degrees in economics and law from Monash University and a doctorate in juridical science from the University of Melbourne, and has over 25 years’ experience as a taxation professional.

Her reappointment comes after the recent appointment of fellow board member Rosheen Garnon as the chair of the Board of Taxation.
