A legal stoush between Uber and the Australian Taxation Office could challenge the way ride-share drivers are classified as workers under Australian law.
A submission to a NSW inquiry into the ride-sharing industry says the case, currently before the Federal Court, could help determine whether Uber drivers are classified as 'employees' or 'contractors' under the law - particularly in regards to workplace compensation.
