A professional website is no longer optional, but a small firm need not have a large site with many pages and in-depth information.

This quick guide will help you simplify your firm’s website, to ensure potential clients can find the information they need to select you as their new accountant. Consider the minimum they need to know, and make that easy to find:

  • Homepage capturing the basics of what your business offers and who you work with
  • About us page with team headshots, credentials (this is where you list your IPA membership) and bios
  • Services page detailing what you do and the costs
  • Contact page offering multiple ways to get in touch, and listing a physical address and operating hours

Everything else is ‘nice to have’. Consider the potential payoff of any additional information you are thinking of adding. If the payoff is not as great as the time it would take to create and maintain on an ongoing basis, leave it out. Same goes if additional information would make it difficult for your prospects to navigate your site and find what they need.
