The Labor government has decided to bring back the $750 pandemic isolation payments in response to the winter surge in COVID cases.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced the decision to reinstate the emergency payments until September 30 following a cabinet meeting this morning.
The payments - designed to compensate people who had caught COVID and had to isolate and miss work - had ended on June 30 but will now be reinstated.
