BDO Australia announced that Jason de Boer, a tax partner at the mid-tier firm, will serve on the advisory panel for the entirety of 2016.

The panel itself draws together some of Australia's leading taxation professionals, who voluntarily contribute and assist the Board of Taxation in the general performance of its charter, and in advising the Treasurer on improvements to the general integrity and functioning of the tax system.

BDO Australian national chairman Helen Argiris noted that Mr de Boer's appointment reflected his deep technical understanding and commitment to improving Australia's tax system.

"This will be Jason's first year as a member of the panel and the appointment recognises both the calibre of his technical expertise as well as his thought leadership on enhancing accounting standards," Ms Argiris added.

In his experience with BDO, Mr de Boer has consulted to the ATO via the NTLG IFRS sub-committee, and was involved in the development of technical thought leadership on AASB 112 - Income Taxes, including preparing responses and comment letters in response to specific tax accounting matters.

"Jason is one of Australia's foremost tax experts and his dedication and intellect will make him a valuable addition to the panel," Ms Argiris concluded.
