Residents in flood-affected areas of NSW living in caravan parks and retirement villages can now apply for up to $20,000 from the NSW government’s Back Home Grants.
People living in multiple tenancies who suffered flood damage can also now apply for up to $5,000.
The Back Home Grant will help restore flood-damaged property and replace essential items and guidelines will extend access to the payment in the flood-affected local government areas (LGAs) of Ballina, Byron, Clarence Valley, Hawkesbury, Kyogle, Lismore, Richmond Valley and Tweed.
The government said it had changed the guidelines through consultation with residents and local MPs so that more people can receive financial support to repair their properties and replace essential household items.
Changes to the Back Home Grant guidelines mean that:
There are two streams of the Back Home Grant: up to $20,000 for owner-occupiers, and $5,000 for tenants.
More than 4,600 applications, totalling $65.2 million, for the Back Home Grant have been approved since the payment went live on 20 April.
