The UN General Assembly designated 27 June MSMEs Day following a resolution authored by the Permanent Mission of Argentina, with the support of ICSB.

The ICSB acknowledged that MSMEs hold the “potential to make a long-lasting positive impact on global development needs, since they are the engine for economic growth and job creation, accounting for two out of three net new jobs created worldwide”.

The Institute of Public Accountants' Vicki Stylianou said that MSMEs had the support of the IPA every day of the year for the significant contributions they make in the global economy.

“We urge all individuals, communities, businesses and governments to celebrate the enormous contribution that MSMEs make to our lives, our prosperity and our future,” Ms Stylianou said.

“We also acknowledge and celebrate the significant contribution of the International Council for Small Business to all small businesses worldwide.”
