For Line (pronounced Leena) Paras, her passion for helping creative folks with their accounting and bookkeeping, as well as her experience as a hobbyist musician, led her to create Counting Clouds, a bookkeeping business based in the creative community of Fitzroy, Melbourne.

Her focus on building a cloud-first service offering (hence the name) employs a team of specialists to support clients so those clients can do what they do best. It also led her and her Xero-based business to Dext, where she has deployed our flagship software offerings, Prepare and Precision.

According to Dext Digital Account Manager, Melissa Reid, Dext’s software solutions, Prepare and Precision, is all about streamlining workflow by automating tasks, allowing them to prioritise and invest in premium services like advisory and new client acquisition.

Prepare, which was offered under the old Receipt Bank name, starts with receipt capture and provides tools to let clients deliver all their documents to you, via a mobile app and hosted in the cloud.

“It’s all about reducing time on the paper chase to create a seamless workflow when preparing accounts, so that it flows to the general ledger,” says Ms Reid.

“In general, technology is important to any business, and help with reducing errors,” she says. “By automating the mundane and repetitive tasks of accounting and bookkeeping, we allow people to focus on more complex transactions and the sort of problem solving where you need a human to do the critical thinking.”

In the last twelve months, Dext also acquired Precision when it bought Xavier Analytics, and it was this purchase that led to us rebranding.

Ms Reid says Precision is all about data quality, using artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) to spot anomalies, and duplicates within data sets, as well as analyse the general ledger and examine its history.

Dext Prepare integrate with the four main general ledger software packages – Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB and Reckon ONE. Whilst Precision integrate with Xero & Quickbooks.

The AI capability also allows integration and synchronisation with the Australian Business Registry (ABR). Once Precision is integrated with Xero & Quickbooks, the customer can see if their client is registered for GST, whether their ABN is valid and more.

For Line Paras, Dext’s software has been a game-changer. She says that using Precision and Prepare saves her team of specialists around 200 hours per month, which is effectively one full-time staff member.

She says that Dext’s solutions meet Counting Clouds’ exacting standards, and now play an essential part in her client service offerings.
